This tutorial provides a basic example of deck hardware bedding using a 1 part marine silicone sealant by 3M. Notably on this tutorial they loosely tighten the fitting and allowing one day for the sealant to set. Once this is completed they then tighten the fitting fully essentially creating a gasket.
